Andre Gray, a disciple of the late Bhakti-Tirtha Swami Maharaja (1950-2005) and founder of Gita Yoga, lived in India from the age of 10 where he attended a traditional Vedic Gurukula school for the following 15 years. In addition to secular studies he learned to read and write Sanskrit, became fluent in the local language and completed in-depth studies and courses in Hindu philosophy and culture.

Andre received diksa initiation in 1990 at the age of 17 and received the name Maha Visnu. He was then ordained as a Vaisnava priest in the authorized Vaisnava lineage of the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya Sampradaya. Of the four Vaisnava Sampradayas (philosophical disciplines) this Sampradaya includes illustrious personalities as Veda Vyasa (circa. 3000BC), the sage credited with compiling the Vedic texts; Madhvacharya (1238-1317) who was famous for his refutation of Shankaracharya’s Advaitavada philosophy and A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896-1977).

After years of teaching Vedic philosophy in India, to both seekers and non-seekers alike, he moved to Norway where he lived for three years and worked as Asst. Production Manager for a local pharmaceutical company. It was at this time he developed his signature Gita-Yoga courses and began his E-mail Coaching Program.

As a highly successful and experienced spiritual life counselor, Andre excels in helping and motivating others to realize and operate at their full spiritual potential. A father of two, he lives in Boston where he serves as the Director of ISKCON's Bhakti Yoga Center and Krishna Temple and continues to help others through his mentoring, seminar presentations and writings.
